We left at 6 am. Making good time when Fam belt broke 70 km out of Phitsanuloke. Drove 50 km to Uttradit where mechanics are working on replacing fan belt. 2- 3 hours estimate thanks 4 prayers. Nathaniel

Dear Prayer Partners, Thank God for His Mercies. It was really good to have prayer with other missionaries last night. Often times, its during those times we hear of other problems from different facets of the mission field and then we realize that our problems may not be as enormous as we had thought. Koy missed one of her follow-up sessions a couple Wednesdays ago. She recounted a week later that she had dreamt that I wanted her to memorize Matthew 6:33. That was exactly the topic for that day even though we had previously covered the topic. I felt that it hadnt sunk in sufficiently so I wanted challenge her to seek first Gods Kingdom. Miraculously, God had intervened through a dream and answered my prayer. Weve been on radio 3 weeks now. God is using the Scriptures in Northern Thai to speak to Apples mom. I had previously purchased a large-print Thai Bible for her to read. She showed no interest. However, shes been hungrily devouring the Northern Thai version. Praise the Lord! Were doing Cain and Abel on the air this week, do pray for us. A fellow-missionary had recounted a Paul on Mars Hill incident that happened recently. He spotted a couple from his office window making a sacrifice at the base of one of the trees in the office compound. Rather amazed, he decided to ask what they were doing. The couple replied The spirit medium told us that we should make an offering to the Lord of this compound. The missionary replied, Do you happen to know the name of this Lord? No Let me tell you and he explained that the Lord of this place really wasnt interested in this particular sacrifice but He would rather have the love, worship and adoration of the couple. Oh, we were told that this particular Lord is a really powerful one. Oh yes, He actually is the creator of the whole world. The missionary was on his way to a meeting so that was it. I wonder if this incident had happened in our church compound, would we have bothered to ask? Or would we have chased the couple away in righteous indigna tion. Church prayer meeting hit 16 people last week. That meant 14 locals + David and myself. Praise the Lord! May God continue to bless His people. Thats about it for now. To our Prayer Partners 25/8/2007/66 2315hrs Dear Prayer Partners, What a luxury! A Saturday without having to wake up for any specific meeting, appointment or event This has been a lovely Saturday to be with the family. Its like a lull before the storm. True enough, a rainstorm just hit us. Were in the rainy season. The children and Pat are little sick. God has been extremely good to us through a very busy period. Things are slowly settling back to normal. Then again, what is normal? We still need your prayers: 1. As we enter the rainy season in earnest, pray for the health of the family, David, ERC staff and students. As most travel on motorbikes, roads are now quite wet and slippery. 2. We are having a Gospel Outreach party at Cell group next Thursday, 30 August. Please pray for the right people God wants to bring. Students have been challenged to bring their non-Christian friends. May, one of the non-Christian students is in charge of food. Pray for her salvation. Nathaniel spoke on witnessing and evangelism last Thursday at cell group to prepare for the upcoming outreach. 3. Pray for Apple who is sick. She and David Cher are now running the ERC since Gade is now studying full-time. She was getting really tired till she was challenged to let the students help instead of running everything herself. 4. Pray for Gade who has now moved into Chiangmai Bible college to study full-time. He will be pastoring Lighthouse and still teaches Bible to students. 5. Pray for David whos now getting a little homesick but he is doing well. Pray that God would grant him safety and an effective ministry here. 6. Pray for Angkhana who lost her husband a few days ago. John was a believer who only came back to the Lord recently. Pray for her salvation. 7. Pray for Top [2nd year theology student who received Christ last month]. He has improved in class but still has much personal growth to attain. Thats it for now. To our Prayer Partners 7/8/2007/65 2315hrs Dear Prayer Partners, Thank God for His Mercies on us. Pat came back safely last Tuesday and she was able to spend time with her parents. Our hearts go out to the South Korean missionaries that are being held to ransom. 1. This is revival week at Payap. Pray for the evangelistic teams that are going to the different classrooms and the Christian Drama team that are spearheading the efforts. Whats heartening this year is the fact that Payap is not having to rely solely on Campus Crusade to do the evangelism. That is a big step for the university. 2. We will be having a an all-campus worship on Friday. Nathaniel is involved together with Gade and others. Pray that this will be a landmark event for the universitys Christian students. Practise has taken much time and effort. 3. Pray for David Cher as he gives his testimony in the classrooms, interacts with students and will begin discipling some of them as well as learn Thai. 4. Pray for Gade as he settles into full-time studies. He will relinquish his role in the English Resource Corner to concentrate on his studies. We are in midst of looking for someone to replace him. May God provide the right person. 5. We thank God for the American team who were of great help. We wish them God speed as they return home. Thats it for now. To our Prayer Partners 30/7/2007/64 0030 hrs Dear Prayer Partners, God has been very gracious to us. Thank God for seeing us through exam week at Payap. Some quick prayer requests: 1. Pat will be returning to Singapore to be with her father in hospital. He was sitting down at a coffeeshop and he just blacked out. The rest of the us will be here in Chiangmai. 2. Koy, Gip and Wut are back in Pichit for the funeral of grandma. This time there are 2 Christians instead of one. Pray for protection and wisdom for them. We are not sure if theyll be forced to participate in the funeral rites. Wut (Gips husband) is still not a believer. 3. The English club has an outing tomorrow at nearby lake. Pray for protection and profitable time learning English and the gospel seed to be sown. 4. Pray for the Lighthouse as we continue to disciple the members and reach out. Lord willing, we will be able to find a larger place for the group as it grows. Pray that we will be able to find a suitable place near Payap University. 5. Pray for David Cher as he adjusts to living in the halls. May God grant him a fruitful time here. 6. Pray for the possibility of starting a work in or near Chiangmai university. A number of the high school students graduating next year and entering CMU. 7. Weve received the final draft for the Way to Heaven and were checking it to approve it for printing. Thats it for now. To our Prayer Partners 14/7/2007/63 Dear Prayer Partners, Thank God for your prayers. The enemy is desperately trying to distract us with lots of roadblocks both foreign and domestic. May God spare us. We need Gods protection. 1. Thank God that Kristen from the American Nav team is out of hospital. 2. A missionary colleague has loaned us her car while shes away. Thank God we are able to insure it so that we can use it. 3. Koy and brother-in-law were involved in separate motorbike accidents. Thank God for sparing them from any serious injury. Koy finally found out about her sisters salvation. Yesterday, brother-in-law came home drunk. Theres a battle here, folks. Pray that Gods side wins. Pray for wisdom and Woods availability so we can witness and talk to him. 4. Gade is sick. Sore throat and flu but recovering. 5. We encouraged those being baptized to tell their parents and ask their permission. Off called her mom this afternoon and mom said, you can do anything you wantjust not become a Christian. Pray for her and the rest. 6. We had a good practise this evening and arranged the hall for tomorrows service. Weve not had such a crowd and we expect a lot tomorrow. 7. Spoke with the local pastor to clear up Gade and Apples staus. 8. Pray for a blessed baptismal service tomorrow. Thats it for now. To our Prayer Partners 9/7/2007/61 Dear Prayer Partners, I made a mistake. Gip wasnt the 2nd person I lead to Christ but the 3rd here in Thailand. I ran into the 2nd Thai while having lunch at McGilvary seminary today. Mark is a pastors son and in his 2nd year at seminary. I lead him to Christ at the follow-up camp after last years revival week at Payap. Praise the Lord! The two known non-believers at the English camp received Christ. Gip, Koys sister on Friday and Pong, a 4th year Computer science major received Christ on Saturday. A 100% conversion rate! This was one of our best camps despite the short amount of time in planning. This will be a busy week. Mom and dad arrive tomorrow. David Cher arrives on Friday. Baptism on Sunday for Lighthouse. Pray for Koy, Woot and Gip (brother-in-law and younger sister respectively). Woot currently has a job but works 7 days a week. Pray for a way for him to have a day off to be with wife and soon-to-be born child. Pray for the familys health. All of us are a little off. Just this for now. To our Prayer Partners 21/6/2007/58 Dear Prayer Partners, 1Th 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. We want to give thanks for Gods Goodness to us. Weve been back in Thailand one month and a half. In the middle of April, we didnt have the funds to return. God provided in a very direct and miraculous way. Since the last newsletter, weve hit our support target and perhaps are over a little. Praise the Lord! Were eagerly anticipating our young adult Singapore team of 4 (-1). We just heard tonight that one of the members has an eye infection and wont be leaving till Friday. Please pray with us. Weve also hit a snag in The Way to Heaven proofreading. Weve done about 7 proofs. Each time, what we thought was corrected wasnt and then when it is corrected, something else goes missing. Gade and I sat down to make corrections on the spot. The graphic artist told us that the original file was infected by a virus so the corrections are being made on the graphic pdf file itself. This is frustrating. Please pray. Either the graphic artist is deliberately sabotaging the work (most unlikely) or Satan just doesnt want this out and were going in a merry-go-round. WE NEED SOME SERIOUS PRAYER HERE. Just this for now. Dear Prayer Partners, Thank God for answering prayer. 1. If youve already read the latest chronicles, you already know our most recent answers to prayer. God is REAL. God is Good. 2. Up till the time the kids and Pat got sick, its been almost a sabbatical. We plan to return for our 7th year on the field. God has sustained us each step of the way. 3. In our last prayer letter, I wrote that I had been retrenched. However, a church board member pointed out that we werent being cut off but the term converted to tentmaking would more accurately convey their feelings and attitude to us. 4. I will be leaving in 4 hours to minister back in Chiang Mai. Do pray for me. 5. Pray for strength and healing for Pat with her inner earache and possible middle-ear infection. 6. Geoff and Christy are over the worst. Hopefully John will not catch the disease from them. To our Prayer Partners 3/4/2007/55 0000 hrs Dear Prayer Partners, Need for Prevailing Prayer more than ever 1. Praise the Lord for a good couple weeks back in Singapore. Pats mum didnt go through with her bypass operation. We approached our 1st Sunday back at church with a little apprehension as we werent sure how we were going to be received since being laid off/retrenched the end of last year. 2. Thank God for sparing us from the haze and the heatwave in Chiangmai. 3. About a week ago, Pat had an earache in the left ear. Christy had been teething and waking up frequently. Suspecting an inner ear infection, she has since started antibiotics. She is in frequent pain and discomfort. 4. Geoffrey contracted hand, foot and mouth disease on Friday. He is on the mend. However, Christy had a fever this morning and has now been infected. Thus, the children are quarantined. Pray for their recovery. Needless to say, this has put extra stress on us and Pats mum whos also staying with us. We are praying that John will be okay. 5. In spite of all this, news from Chiang Mai about the Lighthouse and cell groups in the ERC have been promising. Pray for Gade and the new church stepping out in faith while all the foreigners are away. Pray that God will more than abundantly meet their needs and they will be dependent on the Lord. 8. Pray for wisdom as Nathaniel meets with the Elders of Galilee to answer whatever queries they have. This may have direct consequences on future involvement with us in Chiang Mai. Above all, pray for Gods Pre-eminence and leading, humility and discernment, obedience to Gods Word on our part. 9. Pray for Nathaniel as he flies back to Chiang Mai for Easter to be with the Lighthouse and cell group members. 10. Pray for Pat and the children as they spend Easter quarantined at home. 11. Pray for Pats healing of her ear pain. 12. Pray for a smooth recovery for Geoff and Christy. John still okay so far.
